UCLA Dentistry receives $5 million to study extracellular RNA in saliva

Photo from Dreamstime.com The UCLA School of Dentistry has received $5 million from the National Institutes for Health (NIH) to study biological markers in saliva in order to develop a tool to detect stomach cancer. This study has great potential in the field of salivary diagnostics such that saliva could be used as evidence in the detection of life-threatening diseases, among them diabetes and cancers of the stomach, breasts, pancreas, and ovaries.Read more from the UCLA Newsroom.
