John R. Agar, D.D.S., M.A., F.A.C.P., was confirmed as the President of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) on Oct. 11 at the ACP Annual Awards & President's Dinner during its 43rd Annual Session in Las Vegas.

"As a Prosthodontist, it makes me very proud to serve as ACP President. Prosthodontists are taking dentistry to a whole new level to improve patient outcomes," said Dr. Agar.
Also, Frank J. Tuminelli, D.M.D., F.A.C.P., was confirmed as President-Elect of the American College of Prosthodontists on Oct. 11 at the ACP Annual Awards & President's Dinner during the College's 43rd Annual Session in Las Vegas. Next year at the 44th Annual Session, Dr. Tuminelli will be inducted as the President of the American College of Prosthodontists.
Much like medicine, dentistry is highly specialized. To become a prosthodontist, dental students must graduate at the top of their class. Prosthodontists receive 3-4 years of advanced training beyond traditional dental school in new materials, digital dentistry technology, and precision diagnosis. Prosthodontists are deans of dental schools, faculty, and in private practice. Many are board-certified.

As a board-certified prosthodontist, respected academic and well-loved professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center School of Dentistry Department of Reconstructive Sciences in Farmington, Conn., Dr. Agar has begun his new role as ACP's President for a one-year term. Next year during the 44th Annual Session, Dr. Agar will be inducted as the Past President of the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Agar recruits and mentors many dentists and prosthodontists in training as the next generation to treat oral health issues.
Highly respected, regarded, and well-loved by students, patients and peers, Dr. Tuminelli is a Council Member and a Past President of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. After Hurricane Sandy struck last year, Dr. Tuminelli volunteered to help the American Red Cross provide dentures to patients in need. When travel for a patient proved difficult, he worked with fellow prosthodontist Dr. Louis DeSantis of Staten Island to assist. Prevention.com featured Dr. Tuminelli in its "8 Signs You Might Need Dentures."
"As a prosthodontist, we are trained to evaluate the entire mouth. We look at things that may indicate a disease. Patients who have a chipped, cracked, or missing front tooth that needs to perfectly match the other front tooth in color, shape, and size go to a prosthodontist," said Dr. Tuminelli. "We use the highest quality of materials with the latest technology so that our patients will be happy with the end result."
